Terms and Conditions for SettleTab

Welcome to SettleTab. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SettleTab mobile application and any related services (collectively, the “App”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

SettleTab is a tool designed to help users split receipts and manage shared expenses. Features include:

  • Receipt capture, AI-driven Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and automatic tax/tip detection for item extraction.
  • Multiplayer collaboration for real-time item assignment and online presence tracking.
  • Persistent group management and balance tracking.
  • Generation of pre-filled payment links and buttons for third-party payment platforms.
  • SettleTab Pro features: Unlimited AI/OCR scans, smart item matching suggestions (AI-driven), professional PDF/CSV exports, lifetime history search, and debt simplification algorithm optimization.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. By using SettleTab, you represent and warrant that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

3. User Accounts & Security

  • Registration: To access certain features, you must create an account using a valid email address and a unique username.
  • Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
  • Accuracy of Information: You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information updated.
  • Username Policy: Usernames are case-insensitive and stored in lowercase. You may not claim or use a username that impersonates another person or violates third-party rights.

4. Proper Use and Conduct

  • Accuracy of Data: You acknowledge that OCR and AI analysis may not be 100% accurate. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of extracted line items, prices, taxes, tips, and totals before finalizing any split.
  • Legal Use: You agree not to use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purposes.
  • Abuse of Service: You may not attempt to bypass usage quotas, reverse-engineer the App, or interfere with the proper working of the App’s backend services (Supabase).

5. Multiplayer & Collaboration

  • Host Responsibility: Users who create a “Group” or “Split” (Hosts) are responsible for managing the join code and inviting participants.
  • Participant Access: By joining a split via a code, participants agree to share their presence status, username, name, and assignment data with other members of that specific split.
  • Persistent Groups: Group members understand that their shared running balances and settlement history will be recorded and visible to all other members of the group.

6. Payments and Third-Party Services

  • Third-Party Payment Apps: SettleTab facilitates the generation of payment links and quick-pay buttons for platforms such as Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, Revolut, and UPI. SettleTab is not a payment processor. We do not handle, hold, process, or transfer funds.
  • Pre-filled Data: Although we attempt to correctly pre-fill transaction amounts and memos based on your split calculations and payment handles, you must review and verify all details in your third-party payment app before executing any transaction.
  • Transactions: Any disputes regarding the actual transfer of money must be resolved directly between the users on the respective third-party payment platforms. SettleTab is not liable for failed transfers, incorrect amounts sent, or any issues arising from the use of third-party payment apps.

7. Subscriptions and Pro Features

  • SettleTab Pro: Access to premium features (e.g., unlimited scans, smart item matching, debt simplification, exports, lifetime history search) requires a paid subscription.
  • Billing: Subscriptions are managed through RevenueCat and billed via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Cancellations: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device’s subscription management settings.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of the App (including logos, UI design, and code) are the exclusive property of SettleTab and its licensors and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

9. Data Deletion

You may delete your account at any time via the App settings. Account deletion will result in the permanent removal of your personal profile data, credentials, and payment handles. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT OCR EXTRACTIONS OR SMART SUGGESTIONS WILL ALWAYS BE ACCURATE.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SETTLETAB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the “Last Updated” date or through in-app notifications. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the App’s primary developers reside, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
